Why we should worry about the bloody planet

From "BBC’s Earth: The Power of the Planet" :- our planet is really tough  and there is nothing to suggest that it is going to change anytime soon in the long run, earth can cope with anything we can throw at it  we could clear all the jungles, but a jungle can regrow over a few thousand years  we could burn all earths’ fossil fuels, flooding the atmosphere with carbon dioxide  but even then, it will take the planet only a million years or so for the atmosphere to recover  even the animals we are wiping out will eventually be replaced by others equally rich in diversity  as a relentless work of evolution continues  it’s only a question of time  the earth will be just fine. it’s not to say rapid changes we force on earth don’t matter  that is because humans operate on a different time scale  we have evolved to life in a world as it is now  so in changing this world, we are altering the environment that has allowed the human race to thrive  we could be creating conditions that ...

Do Not Multi-task

A few quick reasons not to multi-task: 1. Multi-tasking is less efficient, due to the need to switch gears for each new task, and then switch back again. 2. Multi-tasking is more complicated, and thus more prone to stress and errors. 3. Multi-tasking can be crazy, and in this already chaotic world, we need to reign in the terror and find a little oasis of sanity and calm. i have tried this and it's all true!

just a thought - part 2

the final objective of any profession is to make the profession null and void. like, a doctors objective is to see the patient fully well, hence finally losing a patient. a programmers final objective is to write a program to write programs. hence ending up with obliterating any further service on his/her part. Of course, all these things are dependent on certain dynamic environmental variables, hence these conditions can never last. like, the patient can always get sick with a newer malady. in computers programming paradigms can always change..and so on and so forth... The previous paragraph reminded me of Henry fords comment that to develop any industry needs to be in continous ferment. Ferment means to be in a state of agitation or of turbulent change or development. which is great, but once in while a person needs to slow down. just so to allow a period of analysis and self reflection, which will filter only the constructive, productive thoughts and hence refine the persons collec...

job, love, life

Somehow it seems that people seem to not understand the importance of slowing down and learning something definite. people go to college and learn by rote, and at the end wonder that they don't know anything substantial. One of the most important , and to my eyes the most unconvincing, reason given is that the the job just earns money and life is in reality something totally different. How we can afford to treat the job, where a person is going to spend most of his waking hours, with so much disdain, jus' has me beat. It seems to me that learning is a process that begins when we accept and fall in love with a certain ideology, a idea, or simply a notion. The educational courses just show us what we are capable of- Different doors in a corridor...each leading into a different world...each world engaging...fascinating...filled with ideas and capable of more ideas begging to be discovered....each more vibrant than the rest. It must be this way...the alternative seems to be rather...

The relationship between Money and a Company

What is money ? what is a company ? we know that money is what drives a company- but what is that intense personal relationship between both of them that binds them together? Lets try and find out.... A company is a realisation and product of a person's thoughts. a kind of mental process being made real.... It is a personification of a persons convictions in his dreams and in his abilities...It is also a kind of means towards a common end...a company becomes the assembly line where the person's dreams are made true. Now, money. Money is that quantity which is a measure of a person's value in society. it is a collective measurement and is not of a particular person's opinion. It has that true and pure nature of the river ganges - it brooks no one person's opinion. it is so pure, because it is a direct reflection of the society's need for the object in question , opinions and discussions be damned. It is true- because it cannot be explained or rebuffed - it simply...
