I read yesterday that Modi was elected on the basis of his performance and not on the basis of his presentation. an amazing thing. if nothing it shows that my countrymen have matured. more so , it is a sign that from now on, only performance will be sen, reviewed, rewarded.
one more thing that troubles me is the status of IT in India. Somehow i have this really bad feeling that technical services will somehow reduce in India - If it comes true most of the companies are going down.......actually it already did - wipro has opened a call-center in indonesia with a capacity of 900 employees. Is this a start of a depression or is this just a flash in the pan - only time will tell....
on a different note , it will now be difficult for my engineering brethen to get well paying jobs in the it sector. i saw an interview on NDTV with one of the people of tech-mahindra -these guys are putting up a university where people will be trained and the best selected. that makes sense - a ready pool , observation over a period of time, an accurate assesment of the candidate's strengths and weaknesses. it is a movement in the right direction for the companies if you consider economics, and 2 steps backward, if you are looking for real inovation. BE grads might cost more, but if their detailed learning of the computer and electronics are leveraged, then new methods can be found to do repeated tasks. My intention is not to insult the students of other professions, since the person who taught me a lot about computers is just a 2nd PU pass, but to highlight the fact that, investing in the right candidates might prove to be a life-saver in the long run.
